Welcome to Distant Drums Empty
PostSubject: Welcome to Distant Drums   Welcome to Distant Drums EmptyTue Nov 27, 2007 3:06 pm

Hello and welcome to all guild members and visitors.

Well I suppose this is my chance to sound off about who and what we are.

Distant Drums is a new guild formed by 3 experienced players on the Arathor Realm who were looking for a new challenge.

We think there is a niche for a guild where friendship is just as important as guild progress. It is our intention to create an environment where you look forward to logging on not just to raid but also to see friends.

That having been said, it is our intention to get up and raiding as soon as the membership allows us to do so.

I don't know how long this will take at present but we are here for the long haul.

There, that's really all I can say at this stage, please enjoy your visit to our forum. Smile

Welcome to Distant Drums Empty
PostSubject: Re: Welcome to Distant Drums   Welcome to Distant Drums EmptyWed Dec 12, 2007 2:17 am

Thought I'd post a quick update on the guilds progress and activities over our first two weeks of existence (oooh hasn't he grown!) lol!

Much to my amazement the response to my manifesto of trying to gather together people in a guild based as much as friendship as epix has been really great. So much so that we are about one healer away from being able to begin 10 man raiding.

Obviously I'm thrilled that this is the case and also that so many of my old chums from around Arathor have seen fit to plant their flags with such a new guild run by such an inexperienced GM. Shocked

I've managed by way of threats, pleading, crying and blackmail to recruit some really good experienced Class Officers to help out with running things so I don't feel quite as much like I'm tap dancing in a minefield anymore. Smile

Hopefully by the end of this week I will be able to report back on the results of our first raids and that is something I am very much looking forward to being able to do.

In the meantime I just wanted to say welcome to all the people that have joined up and I can't wait to see what happens next. Smile

Well we had our first raid........

AND IT WAS AWESOME!!!! tongue Smile

We got 7 guildies on-line and off we went to kara, a big shout to the following people who were kind enough to give up their time and effort to help us get our first raid going:

Jogri
Mukelle
Tubb
Zardon

You are all legends and I thank you for your help. Smile

So, in we go and we kill five bosses in our very first raid! Attumen, Moroes, Maiden, Dorothee and The Curator all heard the sound of Distant Drums, right up until the point when we came and stomped all over them. Smile

This totally surpassed my expectations and if this continues in a similar vein we are faced with the very real possibility of clearing Kara in our very first weeks raiding. Awesome!

A very huge well done to all when participated, lets keep this momentum going.

Your very impressed and happy GM,

Felly Very Happy

Time for another quick update.

We are now into our forth week of raiding and are filling every ten man raid completely with guildies. cheers

We have now completely cleared kara with a full guild group including Netherspite and even the animal bosses! Lots of happy raiders have received lots of nice shiney epix Smile

We've also been making progress in ZA with our best attempt so far on Nalorakk wiping at 1% (something of a tradition with me I'm afraid to say). Nevertheless, we are hoping to have him down this weekend and move on through the rest of the instance.

We are also now fully prepared for 25 man raiding in terms of tanks and healers and only need to fill a final 5 or so places. In particular we are looking to recruit a couple of burst DPS classes such as Mages or Shaman.

All in all, fantastic progress for our first month with one instance cleared, progress in another and 25 man raids coming up fast next month.

I'll keep you all updated with all the news that's fit to print as it happens Very Happy

Update time!

We now have 23 active raiders, we just need to fill a few last DPS spots and off we go to Gruul!

Anyone reading this looking for a raiding guild that is now farming kara and moving through ZA at a good pace, I urge you to give us a try. We are so close to 25 man raiding now and we are all keen as mustard to get on with the job.

Our most recent highlight was a kara run where we cleared Attumen to Prince all on first attempts in 4.5 hours. Hell we even killed the animal boss at the start whilst waiting for some of the group to show up!

Things are really coming together here in DD and this is an excellent time to jump on board and enjoy the ride. Very Happy

The pace continues to accelerate. Smile

Our latest achievements include taking down Nalorakk and Akil'zon in ZA and downing both Maulgar and Gruul on our first visit to the lair. Needless to say we're all feeling quite chuffed and looking forward to our first SSC and TK raids beginning this week.

Since we now have Kara resoundingly on farm, Gruul mastered and are progressing in ZA we have raised the bar a little for applicants but we are still very keen to get more people in.

If you are ready to start raiding TK and SSC on weekly basis with a nice bunch of people then why not check us out? Very Happy

Right now we are especially looking for more Protection Warriors to ensure that we always have enough tanks to raid and would love to add some more Warlocks and Balance Druids to our ranks.

Our latest achievement:

After 3 weeks of hard fighting and learning we finally downed our 3rd boss in ZA - Jan'Alai.

On a high from this boost we then went and added boss no. 4 - Halazzi to our scalp collection.

Good stuff Very Happy

Lurker battered and deep fried last night, we're poised to make serious progress in SSC/TK now so post your application if you're ready to come along for the ride Smile.
